My Travels with Honey

Late last night, while I should’ve been sleeping, I sat down to blog. Before I blog, I thought to myself, I’ll just read my friends’ blogs and see what else is out there. A few clicks later, I was perusing the “Featured Bloggers” at Technorati.com, an amazing blog search engine.

Two more clicks later, and I began my travels with Honey.

The blogsite is called “Travels with Honey“, and details the life and times of a Southern California pitbull named “Honey.” I was just going to do a quick glance-over, but the page itself is so cool-looking that I hesitated. I scrolled down and saw the adorable photo of Honey on the grass (the one I’ve put at the start of this blog), and I just couldn’t stand it. I had to read more.

Our first stop was fast food drive-thru. I laughed out loud thinking about Honey riding shotgun in the front seat of her owner’s car at the In-N-Out Burger drive-thru waiting for her plain meat patty. I laughed even harder at the thought of her being disappointed when she and her owner got “only money” at the ATM. Sorry, Honey…no meat patties at the bank!

We left the In-N-Out Burger drive-thru and went to obedience school. I hurt for poor Honey as she endured the rejection of her non-pitbull peers in school. I got so upset thinking of little Honey’s tender nose having been bit by that mean ol’ French bulldog, I almost cried. And then, I was furious finding out the bulldog’s owner(s) didn’t even apologize. The nerve. By the time the class was over, I was SO PROUD of sweet Honey for winning everyone over and for being the “Stay” champ! Go HONEY!

After our time at the PetSmart obedience school ended, I realized it was getting really late. I thought I should bid farewell to dear Honey, but before I did, I scrolled down through the rest of the blog to see a few great photos of Honey and her friends. We had had a good night, Honey and I, and I had enjoyed watching her play. Throughout our travels, I kept looking for signs of her dear owner, only to find more Honey.

Just so you know, there’s no other vacation companions in “Travels with Honey”…it’s a one-dog trip. I loved it.

And just in case you were wondering, I enjoyed my travels with Honey so much, I might just put my computer in “Drive” and hit the online highway to visit her again. I’ve no doubt we’ll have more places to go together.

  1. What a thrill to see your post on Honey!!! I will certainly share it with her.

One thing you might not have seen is that Honey is presently going through a very time consuming rehab after having ruptured her ligament from too much dog partying. We were at a friend’s house for a couple of weeks and she wanted to fit in with the (three) other dogs there - that meant running for the door to bark at passerby dogs (something she never does on her own but she wanted to have their back), lots of squirrel chasing and a jumping in and out of the dog doors for any real or imagined sound. I should’ve gotten pics of her hanging around the tall, supermodel golden retrievers. She would fall in line with them like a row of ducks, basically the same color, and looked like the completely oblivious ugly duckling.

So - we’ve been very limited but….yay!…next week she can just start getting around more again and I’m going to start her next round of dog training. I’ll let you know if she is more popular in this class!

BTW - my pic is in the first post but I’ll see if I can put it back in the profile….

xx from Honey although she is more of a licker - especially of feet.
