I’m getting ready to head to Jacksonville, Florida tomorrow to see family on Memorial Day.

Paul is away on a mission trip to London, and so I thought I’d get out of “Dodge” as it were.

Traveling with a child under 3 is a challenge.

Traveling with two children under 3 (14 months and 2 1/2 years) is just plain crazy.

Traveling with two children under 3, one of whom is currently in the early stages of potty-training, is probably going to push me over the edge.

What the heck. Life is for living, isn’t it?

I’m trying to think of all the things we’ll need for this overnight stay at my aunt’s, who, incidentally, has a pool!

So that’s the list.

And that’s just for Jane and Elizabeth.

Scary, huh?

I’ll no doubt have forgotten something. (Of course, that’s what the list is for…to NOT forget something.)

It probably seems obscene what I’m taking, but I swear to you the last time we went, I wished for several more things than what I took (toys and videos, mainly.)

I also wished I had remembered my own pajamas.

And my shampoo. And a change of clothes. And my moisturizer. (can you tell who gets the packing priority around here?)

The pajamas, though, were what I grieved the most.

Thankfully Nannie (my maternal grandmother) has countless old polyester gowns that are so worn they’re actually softer (and cooler) than cotton. The one that she loaned me was so wonderfully worn that it was practically sheer. Now that I think about it, I might just “forget” my pj’s again…

Ironic that it’s Memorial Day, don’t you think? (a time to remember!)

    I forgot.

  2. Don’t forget a hat for the girls - sunscren doesn’t protect their little cheeks whenn they’ve being in the pool all day. Have a great trip!

  3. Have a good time - I look forward to hearing how it went when you get back!!! And I hope you get a nap like you did last time - dark, cool room leading to great sleep. :)

  4. Have a great time up there!

  5. Not a surprise, I am just as detailed and thorough in my lists. Just one more thing we share :o)

  6. Wow, and I thought I was the only one who made lengthy and comprehensive packing lists when traveling overnight with my little one! Not only that, but while I usually don’t forget anything for Evie, I often forget something for me!

  7. Just getting back from my weekend away…I hope you had a good time and didn’t forget anything. I completely identify with the lists - that is how I am - a list maker! I usually pack everything but the kitchen sink but then the kitchen sink is inevitably the one thing I find I needed! Oh well!

Your post about missing your husband was touching. I am sorry you are missing him. I pray that the days fly while he is gone. This may sound corny, but be glad you have such a close relationship taht you do miss him when he is gone! Hope you had a great trip and holiday!

  8. ok…last one because I MUST get to packing myself. . .enjoy paul getting home and we’ll see ya in another week or soo :)
