A New Form of Hand-Washing
First it was the licking of the shoes incident.
Now this.
Here are the facts:
1) Jane and I had ham sandwiches and Cheetos for supper tonight.
2) For those of you that don’t already know this, Cheetos cheese powder comes off on your fingers and turns them orange.
3) A quick wipe of the hands with a wet washcloth is generally sufficient to get rid of Cheetos residue on fingers.
4) Jane doesn’t like stuff (particularly food) on her hands.
5) I didn’t wipe Jane’s hands immediately after she ate her Cheetos. Big mistake.
6) I should never turn my back on my children. Ever.
Tonight, as Jane and Elizabeth were supposedly watching their nighttime video, and I was doing a quick email check, I hear this come from Jane’s mouth:
“MOM! I washed my hands all by MYSELF!”
Knowing that I had not seen her cross my line of vision to go to either the bathroom or kitchen to use a sink, I turn around horrified at the prospect of what I might find.
Sure enough, there was Jane with no trace of orange on her fingers, smiling proudly in front of her urine-filled potty. The lid was up.
Clearly, I need to spend more time teaching personal hygiene.
Or grow eyes in the back of my head.
Or both. Fast.

Sounds like she understands personal hygiene. She washed her hands after #1. However, the phrase “location, location, location” comes to mind.
OH MY GOSH. now, that is gross. ha ha. Poor thing. Her heart was in the right place..just not her hands. EEEEKKK
Gotta love her!
The gross things we endure as parents!!!
