See For Yourself
This was the verbal description of our fun and exciting trip to Jungle Adventures.
THIS is the photographic description:
This is the bridge where we watched alligators being fed. It’s also the entrance to the “adventure.” Little did we know!

This is a real, live alligator whose head is covered in duckweed. No, I don’t have a telephoto lens, just a regular zoom. I really was this close!

This big ol’ turtle was the first non-alligator animal that we saw. He’s bigger than he looks in the photo. And moves a whole lot faster than I thought!

This is one of the 8 or so Florida panthers caged at Jungle Adventures. I held Elizabeth out closer to him so that she could see better. The panther came to the fence, growled hungrily and tried to put his paws through the fence to try and grab her. She thought he was funny, and giggled accordingly. No worries, though, not only was he still 6 feet away (and behind a concrete fence, a moat, and a chain fence), he was also declawed.

I took this shot while Paul and the girls looked at the 2 peacocks. One of them was an Albino: truly and completely white! We had just seen a wild boar. Jane was a little distracted, to say the least.

THIS is the alligator that I held. And yes, that is sweat that is pouring off my face and hair. Did I mention that it was hotter than the hubs of H— that day?! And twice as humid! Notice that Jane cannot take her eyes off the alligator for the sake of the picture.

And last, but not least, the most ferocious animal of them all…

…Elizabeth! When I focused the camera, she was smiling broadly. Between the focus and the press of the button, this is what her face morphed into. That’s my girl!

Elizabeth’s face made me laugh outloud!! Thanks for the photographic tour - glad you had such a fun time.
Lynda and I have been talking about taking our herd of grandkids there, but really didn’t know if it was an interesting place. Thanks for showing us what we could anticipate.
Thanks for the pictures. The girls are growing up so fast! See all of you made me smile.
Your weather description made me smile too. My grandfather (mom’s dad) used a similar phrase describing butter (Mom kept it in the refrigerator) at our house once. He said it was harder than the hinges of H—! It’s my first memory of hearing such a colorful phrase!
I think you should have a caption contest for Elizabeths last picture. Oh My!
I LOVE that picture of Elizabeth! it makes me laugh every time!
That place looks cool. I’ve often passed it on the way to the beach, but never stopped. Maybe I can convince my high schoolers to go with me. =) It’s worth a try anyways.
