Happy Blogday!
What is Blogday?
Well, I’m new to this, so I’m not quite sure. But here’s a description I found on several blogs (so I’m guessing it’s the Official One):
BlogDay was initiated with the belief that bloggers should have one day which will be dedicated to know other bloggers, from other countries or areas of interests. In that day Bloggers will recommend about them to their Blog visitors.
What will happen on BlogDay?
In one long moment In August 31st, bloggers from all over the world will post a recommendation of 5 new Blogs, Preferably, Blogs different from their own culture, point of view and attitude. On this day, blog surfers will find themselves leaping and discovering new, unknown Blogs, celebrating the discovery of new people and new bloggers.
Since I LOVE to blog, read blogs, and encourage other bloggers, I thought I would give it a go!
1) Travels With Honey: Honey is a sweet, lovable pitbull dog whose owner, Jill, has become a great friend through the blogging world. I’ve blogged about my Travels With Honey here and here, and continue to take trips with Honey just as often as Jill will take me. If you love dogs, want to learn more about the kinder, gentler side of pitbulls, or want to see a great blogger template, check her out.
2) Casita de Pitatayo: Patricia is an IRL friend of mine. In fact, when we first moved to Orlando, we lived in her house! Quirky, funny and always posting, Patricia blogs about the variety of her interests: movies, food (interesting recipes for the experimental cook!), and her home, Puerto Rico.
3) i give the truth scope: The scope that truth gets on Karin Tome’s blog is almost always funny. Known for her lowercase, one-word titles and the this-could-only-happen-to-Karin kind of scenarios described in her posts, Karin’s blog is a delightful break from the lengthy, often-introspective, and frequently serious blogs that I, and many others like me, write.
4) The Johnson Hut: At the family blog of Matt, Pam, Adam and Trey Johnson (the latter two the subjects, not the authors, on the blog!) you will read a dig from one spouse to the other about Country Music (here and here, a funny and moving perspective on a very scary day (when Trey swallowed a quarter), and one of the most honest and unsettling articles about materialism (titled, “It Makes Me Happy! (Really!)”). Worth the time, I promise.
(5) ordinary mother: This is a fairly new blog for me. Ordinary mother is exactly that. Except she has extraordinary things to say, particularly with regard to her faith, and how it applies to homemaking, mothering, and being a good wife. Throw in a great recipe for Banana Bread, a how-to on cake decorating, and some random thoughts about organizing your linen closet, and you have a good idea of what to expect at this 50’s themed blog.
6) Not All Together: Very much like my blog, Not All Together is a mix of reflections of the heart (my favorite-ever post: my dirty black heart), conversations from the day, personal news, and really funny stories (scroll to find ones about Shamu; an Otter). I love Kelly’s blog because I never know what she’s going to write about. Of course, I just love Kelly, so go figure. Oh, and the title, “Not All Together” is both a confession, and an encouragement that we don’t have to be either.
So that’s the list. There’s 6. (I know, I’m supposed to do 5. I’m a rebel.) Hope you can take the time to check a few of them out.
Happy BLOGDAY!

Re Travels with Honey: I read this interesting defense of pit bulls, but I still don’t trust them around my tiny tot. I just met a kid up the street with a new pit bull puppy that had already given him a scar on the face. Sure, he’s a little boy and was probably too aggressive with the pup. I was that way, too, as a kid, but our poodles never gave me a scar. You can call it profiling if you want, but in this case, I’d prefer to err on the side of keeping my cutie scarless.
Thanks for sharing. What a cool idea. I’ll have to try to do this!
thanks for the plug, Cathy!!
Thanks for the plug for me, too! And as Rob Williams would say: A-pree-she-ate-it.
