Orange is a hard one for me, because I associate a lot of bad things with orange: orange pylons alerting drivers of traffic changes (like the dreaded highway construction on the 408/E-W expressway!);
messy diapers in newborns (yes, they’re orange!);
that horrible jumpsuit I had to wear for VBS this year (no offense, Becky!)
But upon second thought, […]

Yes, I’ve been away for several days now and my rear-end has had a much-needed break from the old office chair which serves as The Catbird Seat. It appears that now I’m back in the saddle again.
I’d like to give a big Shout-out to Amy, my guest blogger.
Thanks, Amy, for the kind words (and […]

Again it is time for your guest blogger to post again. After spending all weekend wracking my brain trying to decide what in the world to write about, I had an epiphany. I’m going to dedicate this post to Cathy Martin, alias Catbird. I’ve only known her for a little over a […]

That’s what I’ve been asked to do. You probably think you’re here reading the profound musings of Catbird, a married stay at home mom (or SAHM, as she would say), but really you’re reading Kenyaninside, a single, childless 20-something (yes I just put a plug in for my own blog. And proud of […]

Every Monday, most (if not all) the leaders for the Youth Ministry at UPC meet at my house for fun, food, fellowship, and discussion.
What we discuss depends on what’s going on in each of our lives; in addition to our normal routine, this Fall, Paul has asked us to also read “Waking the Dead” by […]

is Jesus.
I took a nap today in a desperate attempt to recover from a really rough morning. When I woke up, this was the verse that was on my mind:
“Consider him [Jesus] who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.” Hebrews 12:3. (One of the verses […]

Since MFA (Anna) likes my recipe selections, and “the guys” can’t get enough of this one, I’ve decided to include this very easy, very good appetizer/dip.
Robin Hinchberger (a friend from Butler, PA) gave it to me, and called it “Hot Wing Dip.” I’ve since seen a few other variations under different names.
It sounds strange, […]

…to the four guys that spend Sunday nights from 8:30 to 10pm at my house in small group with Paul (and to your mothers and fathers, who will no doubt get wind of this post and be very proud):
Thank you for making me laugh within the first 5 minutes you walk through our door.
Thank you […]

This is Ok Go’s “Here It Goes Again.”
I know I’m the Johnny-come-lately on this one, but I just think it’s so cool that it’s worth sharing.
Seriously, it’s that good.
Find 3:04 minutes, and spend it watching this.
Hat-tip to dooce via alphamom for the link.

Three people this week told me that they’re addicted to my blog.
Three. In one week.
I’ve had at least two other friends tell me the same thing.
This is not a boast. (Honestly.)
It is utter amazement and confusion.
Two of the three self-professed “The Catbird Seat” addicts were teenagers.
I am both thrilled and confounded.
What on earth could possibly […]
