Ups and Downs

So much for “normal.”
Yesterday we found out that the buyer for our house has backed out.

On the day of closing.
Yes, I know. This is now the second time we’ve sold our house, and the second time the buyer has backed out the very day it should have been sold for good.
[Sigh.]
What are the chances, right?
So […]

Closer to Normal Every Day

As I was preparing to write this “News Update” type of blog, I thought about everything that has transpired in my life lately.
Take a look at last week alone:
4 big illnesses (stomach bug/throwing up for Jane, Elizabeth and me; severe sore throat/upper respiratory infection for me)
10-hour drive to Orlando (and back) with Paul and the […]

“Quality” Television

I’m beginning to wonder about television these days.
Last night, I went to bed uncharacteristically early in an effort to nurse myself back to health after having been sick with a sore throat and pink-eye for a little over 3 days.
In theory, it seemed like a good idea to watch television in bed: combining the prone […]

On Being “The New Girl”

Well, it’s official.
I’m “the new girl” at work.
I began my training with Walgreens this week (hence the lack of posts!), and even though I’m only in the “training” stage of my employment, at Walgreens store #6035 in Homewood, I’m the new girl.
Do you remember your first day in Junior High? I didn’t, until Monday.
It […]

My Garden

Here is a little photo I took of some of my artwork all nicely lined up on the windowsill. When I got the photo CD (no, Nancy, I still don’t use a digital camera!), I noticed that it looked like a little garden.
A paper flower garden.
No water needed, thankfully, or they’d be long dead by […]

Paul on themes

OK, this is Paul and I heard you all loud and clear. I hope this new theme is good enough for all you people who actually look at themes instead of reading them from an aggregator.
Seriously, please tell me what you think of he new look. I am probably going to be making this my […]

A New Look

The Catbird Seat is currently undergoing some new aesthetic changes, per its developer’s decision (Paul). He felt it was high time to change.
I’m inclined to agree.
It’s still a work in progress, but I’d love to get your feedback.
So far, my only real complaint is the “Search” bar in the middle of my header. I […]

Logic, Jane-style

At the breakfast table this morning:
“Jane, we need to put some lipstick [chapstick] on you before we go outside.”
“But I don’t want lipstick.”
“Well, you need it. Mommy needs some, too.”
“I need lipstick because my heart is hurting.” (holds hands in the shape of a heart.)
“Your heart is hurting?”
“Mmm-hmm. So I need some lipstick!”
Well then.

Sold!

No, not the house.
My very first piece(s) of art. I guess that makes me a for-real artist, if only on a limited and self-taught basis. (grin.)
Many thanks to Erin Roney for her believing in me enough to do 4 cut paper flowers for her breakfast nook/kitchen. The impact of her financial support by commissioning my […]

Busy Photographing

To try and get better pictures for lillybeth.com.
This is one of the better ones, so far.
Hopefully back to blogging tomorrow (which I enjoy), instead of photographing more artwork (which is a labor of love.)
