Long Overdue
I visited my own blog (here) today and was shocked to see that the last post was on April 22nd.
APRIL. 22ND.
Three weeks ago. THREE WEEKS!
Holy Moses! Where’d the time go?!
Then I spent the last half-hour re-reading my past posts back to 2 weeks before we moved to Birmingham for the sole purpose of determining how much time passes between posts. Except I got distracted/nostalgic reading old posts and laughing at myself and y’all (the comments are hilarious, especially in retrospect!) and stopped keeping track.
With the exception of a couple of 10-day stints, this is BY FAR the longest I’ve ever gone without posting something. (Even if it’s something relatively dumb like 10 things I like that are green.)
Why the delay? you ask, wondering how I managed to blog frequently before and during the move, and even for a month or two afterward.
The short answer is: I don’t know where to start.
It’s the same reason I don’t frequently email my friends and rarely, if ever, call.
Where do you start when in one day alone, (a) I have a customer pull up her shirt at my “In Window” to have me look at a boil/inflamed bump/infected lymph gland IN HER ARMPIT, (b) Jane and I see the beginnings of a banana pepper growing in our first-ever garden, (c) I find Felipe and Jesus {Hay-soos, for you non-Spanish speaking readers], Jorge’s newly-discovered (and named) bigger, older brothers crawling flagrantly across the kitchen counter , and (d) I have a major spiritual revelation in that I realized I’ve never not been proud. Ever. I’m not sure I would even know what humility feels like. {scary, but true, I think.}
I could get miles and miles of blog-material out of what happens almost every day in the pharmacies where I work. Seriously.
I’m guessing that some of you wouldn’t even believe the stories were true. Only Kelly could vouch for their truthfulness. Oh, and Melissa, my boss, who also reads this blog.
So, the sheer volume of blog-worthy things in my life overwhelms me to the point that I don’t even begin.
I know. It’s tough to be me.
Maybe I’ll just pick something and blog about it.
In three weeks. (wicked grin.)

the silence is killing us! Thanks for blogging again! I miss you!
Ah, Felipe and Jesus. . .my memories of living in the South
Excited to hear more about the “pride” revelations. . .
I am so glad to see you blogging again. I have missed you here. I feel so very special when I my name is listed!! :-X
I am so glad God has directed you and Paul into my life. You guys ROCK!!!!
Yeah for blogging again. I miss reading about your life here. :o) Love you!
Thank goodness! I was starting to think something was wrong with my computer!
And, you can be proud, you have a wonderful husband, beautiful children and you are so creative! God has truly blessed you!!!
PS
We had “pets” like those in college. We named one Maurice, we even introduced him to guests, “Some people call him a space cowboy…”
I missed reading you!
Yay! So glad to hear from you. Your monkey is cute, but I was getting tired of checking in and seeing him every time! (^_~)
Sounds like lots of exciting stuff going on. The garden will be lots of fun for you and the girls (my kids hate to garden; we involved them in too much of the pulling weeds aspect. I’d change that in retrospect. Maybe they’ll come back to it later in life.) I’ll have to send you my salsa recipe.
Lots going on here too. I’ll have to send an email to catch up.
Love you!
Your blog was starting to look like mine - monthly (or so) entries!!
Love you, friend.
Blogging about work is a tricky business, but it sure makes for good reading for those of us who have no risk of termination.
It sure would be fun to hear more stories of other on-the-spot diagnoses and such!
I, too check your blog everyday hoping to get some news on life in Birmingham. Miss you lots!
I also wondered if my blog reader service was missing your updates. So, I would still check your site periodically and kept seeing the monkey! I, too, would love to hear more from you and keep up to date on you all. Although, I understand the demands of life and the sometimes overwhelming craziness, blogworthy posts that can mount up in our heads.
So…good to hear from you!
I could sooo vouch for truthfulness…who, by the way, would EVER lift their shirt and ask me–a mere sixteen year old KID at the time–for advice on what to do with their laceration, mole, weird growth, etc.?!?! At least you have college degrees and life experience!!!
thinking this week how I miss your honesty. miss you, friend.
I’ve missed reading you! I’m so glad you’re sounding happier now. I should call you one of these days. I miss my Cathy Time!
I can’t believe I’m comment #14! I’m the last to know: Cathy has posted again! But it’s so good to hear from you. Growing stuff sounds like a fun thing to do with a preschooler.
