Holding your pee from the time you get up (~6:40 a.m.) until 8:45a.m.+ (I’m still waiting), just so you don’t have to use the baby potty, even though you are in pain.
That’s Elizabeth.
And this is my experience potty-training her.
Strong-willed? Yeah, that’s an understatement.
(and just for the record, the last time she peed was yesterday at […]

If, by chance, you have neglected to purchase a high-quality paint stripper for your long-delayed furniture refinishing project, you may have the necessary product in your bathroom closet.
Or sitting directly on top of your grandmother’s 70-year-old Lane cedar chest, as it were.
[remedial parenting: do not leave opened/unlidded products that spray sitting in reach of […]

…for an update.
We have successfully moved into the house referenced in the previous post (written nearly 2 months ago…Holy Moses!) And though we have a few remaining items in the old rental house, we are considering ourselves “officially moved.”
We made the move a mere 6 days before Christmas, which is sheer madness, by the way. […]

Have you ever watched one of those cop shows where someone is locked in a room, hiding out from John Law, and the cops on duty finally get tired of yelling through the wall/door at the perp…and so they just kick the door in?
Did you ever think to yourself, “Yeah, right.”
Well, I witnessed it IN […]

Today as I drove back from a truly enjoyable day-trip to Chattanooga with my daughters, I found myself in a most unusual situation.
For approximately 45 miles or so, I drove exclusively in the left lane. By choice.
Yes, that’s right.
I drove in the left-hand lane only from about 10 miles north of Fort Payne to just […]

FROG.
Not a hard word, really.
But for Elizabeth, who is phonetically-challenged, “frog” sounds a whole lot like the more notorious “F” word…you know the one.
How did I come to discover this knowledge?
Well, some time ago, Paul bought the girls plastic frogs and turtles to play with in the bath. There are all different kinds of both […]

Today we went to the ER for Elizabeth for a deep cut in her thumb. Of course it was Elizabeth, and not Jane or Paul or me, that required our first trip to the Emergency Room.
It began when Paul and I heard her crying.
We both just assumed Jane had done something to provoke her, but […]

Rule #1: Do not leave children under 3 unattended for more than 1 minute.
Rule #2: Do not leave open beverages on low tables such as nightstands, coffee tables or end tables when you have children under 3 present.
I broke the rules just now.
Anyone want to guess where the contents of my half-drunk cup of coffee […]

At long last, here are a few photos from Halloween.
“Plain” Jane
“Peanut” Elizabeth
A pirate, the M&M, and a princess
Yes, I made the costumes. Yes, I did swear multiple times while making them. No, I am not completely happy with the results (mostly Elizabeth’s, whose costume I did first, and consequently learned what NOT to do). Yes, […]

Paul called “dibs” on blogging this (Newman!), but I just couldn’t resist putting some kind of reference to it here. To get the full story with whole photos, click here.
